There is a chance I might be a list nerd? That chance is 100%. Maybe more. Nothing gets my engine revving like a good list. And the Eisner nominees announced in June, winners announced on July 21, is just such a list.
If you don’t know, the Eisner Awards, announced at SanDiego ComiCon every year, are like the Oscars of comics. Pointless popularity contest that we cartoonists can’t help but make too big a deal out of. I am sure nomination and winning feel amazing, and that is really enough. At least it’s not the Razzies or Darwin Awards where it is an insult to be nominated.
Patreon backers have gotten a PDF with my complete reviews, including 4 additional pages for the snarky comments about things I feel passionate but rude about. But for you darlings, here is a PDF that is okay for sharing in public, haha.
I would give you a book recommendation, but that seems a bit redundant. But instead . . .
Donkey Truckers!
I wanted a fast project. OK, OK. I know I am always starting projects. Well, there is an Adderall shortage in the US and I need to increase my dose but can't get a higher one. Very annoying.
Anyway, I have Parasolia of course. I love it. But the illustrations take quite a while and I don't have a whole lot to show in the process. I am trying to do better at marketing, so more consistent posting on the InstaTwits (before they are all completely dead) is one of the die-hard rules. These are fast. Like 30 minutes or less per page. The coloring for the very final takes a bit longer, but is also good practice.
When I first came up with this idea (because a friend of mine has been showing me all these great stickers these great artists have been doing), Abe suggested "donkey!" When I said a theme, "truckers!" What am I supposed to do with that? Well, turns out to be a wonderful pairing.
