I ordered new watercolor brushes. Finally. And a couple granulating watercolor paints. Experiments forthcoming.
I am completely enchanted by combining embroidery with other art forms. I painted and embroidered these California poppies. I used a thumbtack to punch the holes. It was a bit big, so I got a cork to shove a needle into and get holes just the right size.
If that paintbrush looks busted AF to you, you are right, even though that is one of my good ones. I bought new brushes because I finally realized how old mine are!
Anyone recognize these guys? Abe is the blonde in both photos, if you couldn’t tell. These are both currently hanging in the textiles area of the Jansen, I think. On the grade-school picture of Abe, I included a tiny button.
I love the snappy sound of punching the paper. It might be half the fun.
Classes next up at the Jansen:
May 17: curio bones, and Abe’s Fundamentals of Photography class starts
May 24: curio feathers and fur, and Abe’s class on taking better cellphone pics
May 31: curio eyes
Someone made a video game just for me: frog hosting a tea party, finding tea. Teacup is a cozy game with wee puzzles and no jumping. It's quite a short game, like 3 hours max. And just really cute. It includes a “notebook” with information about the various herbs. And a cookie recipe. I haven’t tried the recipe yet, but I can’t wait to…
I hope your day gets better from here!

P.S. Wally found a stick.
