Do you like robots? I like robots. And I’m in a robot-themed comic anthology from CanonWrite Productions coming to Kickstarter on July 14!
I will have commissions available so get ready to grab a book and some art. I will post a sample of my work with the official launch email. (That is, next week.) This is the biggest anthology they have done yet, so be sure to check it out.
Illustrated Poetry
Busy month! On August 15, I am teaching a workshop on creating illustrated poetry at the Lynden Senior Center at 3:30. It is part of a series of workshops that are happening as part of Elder Voices, an anthology focusing on the wisdom of people in their later years (65+). This should be a fun class, especially when I remembered I actually do illustrated poetry a lot. I have worked on at least 10 years of the Sue C. Boynton poetry broadsides, at least 5 poems per year and up to 10 (as I did this year). I have lots of experience to share and will try to make something to share more broadly after the Lynden event.
For example, I think the above is one of my favorites from this year. I love the Pacific tree frogs that are native to this area. The first year after we bought this Noon Road house, we had what Abe has deemed the frog-pocalypse. You couldn’t walk near the pond without stepping on a baby frog because there were so many! Amazing and terrifying. This past autumn, the frogs were so loud that when I went to the pond at night, my ears were left ringing for 10 minutes.
Recommendation Station
Let’s go with Clem. This is a video game by Mango Patrol, the same people who did the funny, weird games Mecha Nika and Agatha Knife. In Clem, you are playing a little golem who is doing the bidding of some mysterious voice. It is very cute, of course. Everything Mango Patrol has done is just adorable. And creepy. My favorite combo. The puzzles are fun and rewarding. You get to find a beetle, dig up a cat, and shoot things with water. So in other words, a typical day of fun.
Stay curious,
Angela
