There is so much rain! The path at the front of our house is just a river now. And I love it! Misty and foggy and rainy and lovely.
This is one of the coolest things I did at Emerald City this year. A commission of this autumn-loving witch cat. And this is the best image I have - a phone pic.
Another I did that is only a phone pic was this illustration. It was for a fundraiser for a school in Seattle. I actually like this illustration a lot. It makes me laugh every time I look at it.
I inked a bunch of stuff. Sometimes I tried to make it last longer because I didn’t want to end up drawing too many things.

Since I had these stamps, I brought them with me and decided to doodle on some of the stamps. Here are some of the stamp doodles I did. I love the second one! Fresno Nightcrawler. I was experimenting with watercolor on the stamps instead of a stamp pad. Very cool.

As part of taking time, I did some watercolors. The mushrooms were the last thing I did. The coyote walking a chicken (Abe’s idea! Thanks!) was an experiment on new paper. I couldn’t tell if it was watercolor paper or not. I thought it was, but once I actually started working on it, I changed my mind. I think it is rag paper for printing.

Most of these are available for sale. Watercolors around $70, inks around $35, stamps, around $15. Email me for more details.
Some more books! We are closing in on catching up with all these books I have worked on.
Chile, Clive, and Cardamom by Beth Dooley and Gary Paul Nabhan (Chelsea Green, October 2024)
I cannot bring this book into my mind because it was under a different title when I worked on it. But I do remember that it was pretty cool.Courage of Birds by Peter Dunne, illustrations by David Allen Sibley (proofreader, Chelsea Green, October 2024)
I am stoked to have my name in the same book as David Allen Sibley. Of the Sibley guides. Yeah.Mia and Friends by Karlin Gray, art by Michelline Hess (First Second, August 2024)
Birds, Beasts, and Bedlam by Derek Gow (Chelsea Green, August 2024)
Gow’s books are always good. The Biochar Handbook by Kelpie Wilson (Chelsea Green, July 2024).
Maybe too inspiring? Seems like my mom the firebug would really like it. (She has my copy now. No dangerous fires yet.)
This weekend! Curious about Curios: Plants at Jansen! If you are going to be in the area or know someone who will, this will be a very fun class. We’ll get to play with paper and stuff. I am excited.
I found a really cool magazine through Libby (the library app): Ideas. It is from South Africa and has all sorts of cool things. From party menu recipes and craft projects to art to cut out for scrapbooking to coloring pages. Lots of “well-being” articles. Just slow living stuff. And beautiful photography.
I hope your day gets better from here!

P.S. Wally is too sleepy and cozy in his new bed to greet you.
