I visited family yesterday and we talked for about 6 hours. My voice is hashed. Which is prefect because… I have a live stream tonight and am teaching a workshop tomorrow! Poor planning on my part but totally worth it. We visited my mother-in-law and our niece, who is renting a room from my MIL. It is very cute and I want to write a story inspired by the cuteness. Their plum tree had so many plums that raccoons waddled around like terrible burglars, eating straight from the branches and staring at the window.
Yes, I mentioned some live events. This is a short letter because I have so so so much to do. Let’s get right down to it.
Tonight (Wednesday, 8/14)
At 5pm PST, 8pm EST: Live stream with some of the other Universal Flaws of Robotics artists who are offering commissions. I will be making a little robot figurine. Abe found some weird mesh thing on the side of the road so I am going to use it for my robot tonight. If you join, you can comment about what materials I should use.
Tomorrow (Thursday, 8/15)
At 1:30pm to 3:30pm: Finally, that Illustrated Poetry workshop at the Lynden Senior/Community Center. If you are in Whatcom County, come on by! Free and no registration. I will have handouts and lots of examples.
This Fall
More details to come, but it looks like I will be teaching two multi-week courses this fall. I don’t have the final information, but when I do, I will let you know.
I read Black Cloak Vol. 1—sci fi / fantasy murder mystery? YESS! I really enjoyed it. There is a second volume but I have yet to get my hands on it. Great art, really soft, curvy linework and beautiful colors. Great character and location design. I didn’t have trouble telling characters apart and they are very expressive. And the story was well told. There was foreshadowing and red herrings and character development. You don’t always get those when there are so many genres mashed together. So, well done!
Sorry for wasting your time. I hope your day gets better!
